Turris was won by us outbidding 3 to 10 teams, depending on what you read. In either case, the professional hockey watching and evaluating crowd thought MUCH more of Turris that they did of Filatov. And also this comment is post Ottawa 4 Buffalo 1, and he looked good.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9215652504344172254.post-86750302755978969052011-12-20T16:29:46.450-05:002011-12-20T16:29:46.450-05:00All I can tell you is most Coyotes folk are ecstat...All I can tell you is most Coyotes folk are ecstatic. Many expected only a second round pick, and can't believe they got a premium prospect to go with it.

I was really excited to see how Rundblad was going to turn out. I saw him as possibly better than Karlsson eventually. I remember Karlsson started much the same way as Runblad has, a little indecisive, horrible mistakes and flashes of brilliance.

Now we have potentially another head case. I thought Filatov was a risk worth taking because he came cheap. Turris didn't. This will likely be the trade that Murray is remembered for, good or bad.

What's done is done, so I hope like hell that Turris can beat the odds and realize the potential everyone thought he had years ago. But I will join the chorus calling for Murray's head if he doesn't.Andynoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9215652504344172254.post-85644400626084139752011-12-17T17:32:02.376-05:002011-12-17T17:32:02.376-05:00Well, neither has done anything in this league, to...Well, neither has done anything in this league, to date. In that way it is an even trade, making the 2nd all the more baffling.
In the end I think it's the addition of the pick that rubs the wrong way. Just seemed like one side received a premium for what was otherwise a fairly even swap.
Time will tell, but a 2lc is needed, even if not at the moment, as this team lacks real depth at this position. The problem now is an over-abundance of bottom six players on one way deals. Here's hoping a deal is in the works to replace that lost pick.
GNSensayhttp://sensay.wordpress.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9215652504344172254.post-65306510928218870042011-12-17T16:34:17.430-05:002011-12-17T16:34:17.430-05:00Anonymous, good points. Murray is the one taking the risk. It could pay off, but I have my doubts.Jeremy Milkshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09719907099819957578noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9215652504344172254.post-27515213568838735932011-12-17T16:32:00.182-05:002011-12-17T16:32:00.182-05:00PVR, you're right. We traded a prospect ...I think Murray got fleeced.

We traded a prospect (Rundblad) and a pick (2nd rounder), for a project (Turris).

Obviously, if Turris works out Murray deserves all the kudos. But, at this point in time, it's an overpayment.

Kudos to Maloney for pulling a Bryden-esque/Johnson-esque move. He had an asset that was not producing. That asset publicly flipped the bird to the organization. Then that asset made a crazy contract demand.

Maloney didn't panic. He fully understood his team's rights under the CBA, and made Turris sign a reasonable deal. Then from a position of weakness, when the whole league knew he had a bad situation on hand, he created a marketplace and nabbed a top-end prospect who has proven himself at the pro-level in Europe, and a second round pick.

I don't doubt Turris's talent, but I wonder how he fits into the Sens. Like you mentioned, Foligno is just starting to find his groove as a second line center.

A couple of weeks ago we heard rumours of Brassard to the Sens. I didn't want that to happen because I was worried what that would do to Foligno's emergence has a good second liner.

If Turris can't quickly establish himself on the second line, can you really put him on the third when Smith-Condra-Daug look so good.

Then you have Da Costa and Regin ... and Zbad.

If Turris was proven, then it's understandable that you make room for the guy. But, he seems like a project to me. He'll need a fair opportunity ... so who's ice time does he take away?

Is that all we could get for Rundblad? All we got is a second for Chris Kelly. We gave up a second and Rundblad for Turris. Would Boston trade Kelly for Turris? I wouldn't.

Filatov leaves. Michalek gets injured. Maybe Filatov's thinking there may be an opportunity. Filatov returns. Turris arrives. Poor Filatov.

Anyway, Turris is offensively gifted. He'll be interesting to watch. Hopefully it works out.

Overall, I think that Melnyk should seriously think about taking away Murray's cell phone.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9215652504344172254.post-80524653650120485172011-12-17T15:52:22.075-05:002011-12-17T15:52:22.075-05:00Just one pint?
