Watching him get stung time and time again, as he threw himself in front of so many shots was ridiculous. He played some old fashion hockey there! Anyone who wants to see him walk, well... It only takes one nutty team to out price the market!

I believe the Sens showed some real guts in this series. How much more dangerous would they have been if Michalek would have been able to participate?

Other than rid themselves of Andy Sutton, who was brutal, they don't have too much to fix. All Sens fans should be proud of this team. The Plumberhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03682781203391167629noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9215652504344172254.post-10285650229092682502010-04-26T22:07:59.953-04:002010-04-26T22:07:59.953-04:00Jeremy,

Count me in, too.

In fact, I think that there's a silent group of people who are Emery fans. Watching that Buffalo brawl video makes many nostalgic. Try attaching it to one of your posts, and see how many hits you get.

Think about the hypocrisy. Writers still bring up his "road rage" incident. What happened? He yelled at another driver.

On the other hand, Patrick Kane beats the crap out of a cabbie, and no one brings it up any more. In fact, his team minimizes the incident and backs the player. Mere months later, they give him a $6.5M dollar deal. The US names him to the Olympic team.

Which incident is worse? It's not even close.

The Sens got portrayed as a partying team. Number one, who cares. Number two, where's the evidence.

Meanwhile, Patrick Kane and John Madden are shown with their shirts off in the back of a limo with a bunch of girls in Vancouver. Again, who cares. But, for the sake of consistency, how come that story doesn't stick and plague them.

It's a double standard, and it's nonsense.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9215652504344172254.post-49461638596811869292010-04-26T20:29:35.414-04:002010-04-26T20:29:35.414-04:00Anonymous, I agree with you that the "bad rep...Anonymous, I agree with you that the "bad reputation" the Senators had was largely a media creation. I mean you're talking to the only Ray Emery fan in Ottawa. But that reputation was out there whether it was fair or not. I'm not trying to say it was accurate by any means.Jeremy Milkshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09719907099819957578noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9215652504344172254.post-89185970280165238082010-04-26T20:11:58.791-04:002010-04-26T20:11:58.791-04:00Elliotte Friedman has his blog post out for this w...Elliotte Friedman has his blog post out for this week and here is what he has to say about Volch:

UFA Anton Volchenkov is the most irreplaceable player on Ottawa's roster. The starting point for value will be Mike Komisarek's five-year, $22.5 million US contract with Toronto. There are teams who wouldn't commit that kind of cash to a four-goal scorer. Someone will for him.

I'm mindful of the fact that showing Volch some love, is not going to help the club get a bargain deal. I'm sure Volchenkov's agent reads the various blogs.

But, what do you do? On one hand, as a fan, you want to make your voice heard. But, on the other hand, too much positivity towards Volch plays into his agent's hands when he's trying to extract max value from the club.

Senators largely turned around their recent reputation as an underachieving, fractious group of ego laden stars.

I don't mean to nit pick an otherwise strong post, but I disagree with you here. Just my opinion, but I've never perceived them to be a fractious group of ego laden stars. To me, that was media created fiction. They were always a good group of guys who have made a Finals appearance. No one can take that away from them, no matter how badly the national media needs a juicy story line.

As for Spezza, I think that if the team wants to get the most out of him, they need to let him focus on his strengths, and then build a team around him.

That means bringing in guys that can take advantage of his strengths, and other guys who can compensate for his weaknesses. I think they should make him the focal point, only because he is the top talent.

Look at what Washington has done with Ovechkin. When OV was drafted, I remember the TSN guys saying that OV was like a Kovalchuk who could back check.

Well, Boudreau has let him pretty well forget about back checking. He focuses on scoring. The whole team plays to OV's strengths.

It makes for fun and exciting hockey. It can get messy at times, but who cares, as long as they win and it's fun to watch.

Finally, the talk about changing management hasn't started as yet. But, if San jose gets bounced and Doug Wilson is the collateral damage, I think that he'd be a great pickup.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9215652504344172254.post-44722311926449944482010-04-26T20:11:00.292-04:002010-04-26T20:11:00.292-04:00As always, the voice of reason. No questions asked. Hopefully it doesn't take that much but some team out there is going to offer that kind of money. But Anton is the rock on this team. Always there, always a force, always blocking shots. You never worry about him making a mistake and you know he will do whatever he can to win.thehuxnoreply@blogger.com
