Same Old Horseshit From Gerber

I don't know what's more disturbing: Jiri Hudler congratulating Chris Osgood after the game by flicking his tongue in and out like a snake for ten seconds or Martin Gerber being unable to close out a game in which he had built up so much goodwill with the fans and his teammates.

Like Greg Millen said on the broadcast, Gerber didn't look pretty, but he was getting the job done. He was losing his stick and letting out his usual assortment of rebounds but he was making some big saves. Even I was beginning to believe, and that's saying something.

The first Johan Franzen goal saw Gerber go down early but at least it was a near perfect shot. The second goal was inexcusable, even if it was deflected. It was rolling on the ice and he was in position. It just went through him.

Game over.

While Jason Spezza and Dany Heatley were terrible the whole game, the Senators would have stolen at least a point if not for the Gerber gaffe.

When will Gerber and his horde of media apologists simply run out of excuses?

Martin Gerber is a horseshit goalie and he has been since donning a Senators uniform.

The only question that remains is how much damage he has yet to inflict on the team.

Totally agree on all counts.

The bouncer wasn't as tricky as the idiots calling the game made it out to be.... if Gerber was square to the damned shooter, that hits him in the chest.

The final goal was just terrible. TERRIBLE.

Spezza... well.... the guy looked like a deer caught in headlights all night. Ugh.

Great article here on the matter. Why anyone would imply that Gerber is a DARLING around here is beyond me... people have been vcalling for his head since 2 years ago.

I am sick of the unfair Gerber bashing. Somehow you have forgotten the horrendous Spezza giveaway right at the net that led to the first goal. THAT should never happen. How about that unbelievable line change --4 senators off!!!!---that led to goal number 2. Give Detroit a chance like that and you're in for big trouble. Gerber is a guy trying to do a good job under the most trying cirumstances. This team needs to smarten up.

I think the tongue thing was more disturbing. Seriously, what the HELL?!

It seems like every time alfy is out of the lineup heater and spezza seem to lose that puck possession mentality that makes them so dominant. Really, the alfredsson injury is a good thing for the team because it makes the team play better defensively. I mean, almost beating a motivated detroit team(after loss to leafs) without alfy is actually a step up from most of the games in the past where hes been hurt.

People need to chill out. This team is still coming together under a new coach, with many new players. THEY NEED TIME!

Seriously, listen to me: come back in 25 - 30 games time and then give 'em stick.

I'm no Gerber fan, but as a goalie myself, I can tell you all that all the hate and negative energy being pushed towards Gerber will only bring the team down.

Haters: deal with it some other way. Whatever your problems are, please deal with them in private, and spare the rest of us your drama.
