Bruce Garrioch - Witchfinder General

Even though the Ottawa Senators are on a three game winning streak and have seemingly turned the corner with Martin Gerber in nets, the Ottawa Sun's Bruce Garrioch is obsessed with continuing his rabid crusade to run Ray Emery out of town, damn the consequences.

Remember, this was the reporter who almost had an emotional breakdown the second time Emery was late for a practice and was filmed pleading with General Manager, Bryan Murray to suspend him, his voice breaking with anger and emotion. He was in a such a state that it wouldn't have been surprising to see him with a torch in his hands leading a pack of outraged "journalists" to the Senators locker room to flush out the evil.

Ever since, Garrioch has been on the warpath and nothing short of buying out Emery will do. That's the focus of today's article where Garrioch suggests that the troubled goalie can be bought out of his contract for only 1/3rd of the money remaining.

This was obviously Garrioch's own idea as he has no quotes from Senators management saying that this is an option going forward. There is no analysis as to what the Senators will do without any depth in goaltending (despite what everyone believes, Brian Elliot is not having a sensational season down in Bingo) or the consequences of giving up on a player who they have invested so much time and money in. Nope. It's just "off with their heads" and figure it all out later.

If the Senators win the Stanley Cup, the next day Garrioch will lead with a story about Ray Emery, blaming him for the Senators not winning in four straight. This guy puts the Communist witch hunter Joe McCarthy to shame for zealousness.

The Ray bashing is out of hand, the guy takes you to the cup last year and this year he should be cut/traded/lynched whatever.... As far as Bruce goes perhaps he is racist or just jealous of Ray - young/rich/cool/ladiesman - Bruce, well not any of those. Is gerber the answer? he wasnt in carolina he wasnt last year and i dont trust him this year. Yes gerbs is winning right now but the whole team is playing better since paddock was fired. Give Ray some starts to get his groove back because if they want to do anything in the playoffs Ray is the man. With gerbs they may win a round or even 2 until he falls apart and starts stinking out the joint, which he tends to do everynow and then. last thought as far as sports scandals go being late to practise is not a scandal, but i guess being a black hockey player in the valley is.

Ray deserves whaT HE GETS. TOTALLY UNPROFESSIONAL, AND HIS STATS ARE WEAK. GERBER HAS A HISOTRY OF HUGE WINS IN eUROPE, AND HE TOOK ANAHEIM TO THE PLAYOFFS, AND WAS ONLY PULLED WHEN HE GOT SICK. GERBER HAS A GREAT HISTORY AND GREAT STATS, EVEN THIS YEAR DESPITE ALL THE SHANANIGANS. eMERY DIDN'T HELP WIN GAMES THIS YEAR OR LAST. GERBER DOES.

1.- Anaheim and Carolina liked gerber so much neither team held onto him.
2. - Emery didnt help the Sens win any games this year or last? Really are you being serious? have you even watched games this year or last or is your head so far up Garycocks ass you cant think/see/talk/tYpE straight.
3.- Gerber won big in europe as we all know european success always translates into nhl succes. An aside Hitler won big in europe to.
4. - Gerber has more holes than swiss cheese.

We gave up Hasek, one of the GREAT goalies, and he is doing absolutely fine thank you. We gave up Hossa, and surprise surprise now we want him back. Even more recently we gave up Corvo and he's doing great. Thanks to ignorant people he wanted out. Too bad for us. Just replace him who cares. Time to appreciate what we have. Look at Gerber's statistics. Look at Emery's. They speak for themselves loud and clear. Murray gets it. Those who can't read don't get it and should take lessons in reading goalie stats before they spout off with garbage.
